Top 5 Friday: Characters That You Relate To

Ever find a character(s) in a book or movie which makes you think the writer was crawling around in your head when he wrote it? Or you feel like you know that person or wish you did? Here are some of my favorites.

  1. Finbar McBride - The Station Agent - An outsider who wishes he could just blend in or not be seen as anything special. He wishes that people would realize that he is just an average, boring individual.
  2. Darryl Karrigan - The Castle - He is the type of guy you want as your friend. He'll think the best of you even when your best isn't all that high on the ladder. He's the drinking buddy you want to have around when things aren't going so well for you. Rich or poor he sees everyone as a part of the family.
  3. Auggie Wren - Smoke - Life didn't turn out for him as planned, but he still has an ear for those who need to let off a load. But isn't afraid to show that temper of his.
  4. April - Pieces of April - My female alter ego. The child that didn't have the closest relationship with her parents, but ultimately grows to become a loving daughter.
  5. Scout - To Kill A Mockingbird - Not happy with the trappings of society they tend to more confuse her and make her feel confined and trapped.

Danielle De Barbarac: Ever After - I wish I had her strength and fortitude, to face adversity and always see the light in the situation.

Lt. Jordan O'Neil- GI Jane - Again the inner strength and courage to go after what you know is right, no matter who seems to be against you. The will to finish no matter who hard the road ahoe.

That is all I have, but I did want to say I love the new look!

Sprite,
How are things going? I've missed hearing from you. Thanks for the compliment. Eddo did a great job.

Pete
Didn't piggy get a rock dropped on him? I always felt more in tune with Kilgore Trout

I would not be any of the characters mentioned here. I would most definitely be Lisa Simpson who is a soulful, poem writing, feminist, and vegetarian animal lover who live with a family that is nothing like her but she loves them all dearly in a weary kind of way. Oh she's a brainack too and that makes her slightly depressed but not less pathetic.

There's a big difference though, you aren't annoying like she is. Or at least, she's annoying to me.
